That?s the biggest margin in the September survey prior to a presidential election since Bill Clinton led Bob Dole, 50% to 38% in 1996.

And, remember, this recent poll was done before America watched Romney belittle almost half the nation.

For the last several days I?ve been deluged with calls from my inside-the-beltway friends telling me ?Romney?s dead.?

Hold it. Rumors of Romney?s demise are premature for at least four reasons:

1.??Between now and Election Day come two jobs reports from the Bureau of Labor Statistics ? October 5 and November 2. If they?re as bad as the last report, showing only 96,000 jobs added in August (125,000 are needed just to keep up with population growth) and the lowest percentage of employed adults since 1981, Romney?s claim the economy is off track becomes more credible, and Obama?s that it?s on the mend harder to defend.

With gas prices rising, corporate profits shrinking, most of Europe in recession, Japan still a basket case, and the Chinese economy slowing, the upcoming job reports are unlikely to be stellar.

2.?Also between now and Election Day are three presidential debates, starting October 3. It?s commonly thought Obama will win them handily but that expectation may be very wrong ? and could work against him. Yes, Romney is an automaton ? but when the dials are set properly he can give a good imitation of a human engaged in sharp debate. He did well in the Republican primary debates.

Obama, by contrast, can come off slow and ponderous. Recall how he stuttered and stumbled during the 2008 Democratic primary debates. And he hasn?t been in a real-live debate for four years; Romney recently emerged from almost a year of them.

3. During the next 7 final weeks of the campaign, the anti-Obama forces will be spending a gigantic amount of money. Not just the Romney campaign and Romney?s super PACs, but other super PACS aligned with Romney, billionaires spending their own fortunes, and non-profit ?social welfare? organizations like the Chamber of Commerce, Karl Rove?s ?Crossroads,? and various Koch-brothers political fronts ? all will dump hundreds of millions on TV and radio spots, much of it spreading lies and distortions. Some of this money will be devoted to get-out-the-vote drives ? to phone banks and door-to-door canvassing to identify favorable voters, and vans to bring them to the polling stations.

It?s an easy bet they?ll far outspend Obama and his allies. I?ve heard two-to-one.?The race is still close enough that a comparative handful of voters in swing states can make the difference ? which means gobs of money used to motivate voters to polling stations can be critical.

4. As they?ve displayed before, the Republican Party will do whatever it can to win ? even if it means disenfranchising certain voters. To date, 11 states have enacted voter identification laws, all designed by Republican legislatures and governors to dampen Democratic turnout.

The GOP is also encouraging what can only be termed ?voter vigilante? groups to ?monitor polling stations to prevent fraud? ? which means intimidating minorities who have every right to vote. We can?t know at this point how successful these efforts may be but it?s a dangerous wildcard.?And what about those Diebold voting machines?

So don?t for a moment believe ?Romney?s dead,? and don?t be complacent. The hard work lies ahead, in the next seven weeks.?

And even if Obama is reelected, more hard work begins after Inauguration Day ? when we must push him to be tougher on the Republicans than he was in his first term, and do what the nation needs.

US routs Australia in Sundhage's farewell game

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. ? On her final victory lap, Pia Sundhage hopped and high-stepped her way around the field.

As the U.S. women's national soccer team coach soaked in the cheers from the capacity crowd, her team began serenading her by belting out, "You are my Sunshine."

A fitting tribute since Sundhage has had the squad in perfect harmony for five years.

A fitting way to go out, too.

Abby Wambach broke a tie early in the second half and Alex Morgan added two goals and two assists, helping the U.S. beat Australia 6-2 Wednesday night in an international friendly that was Sundhage's farewell game.

"Today is Pia's day. We've been talking about it all day: What can we do to show her?" Wambach said. "She's a passionate woman about this game. We knew the best thing we could do was give her a win."

Sundhage announced earlier this month she was stepping away after leading the squad to back-to-back Olympic gold medals. She will return home to coach the Swedish national team.

Heather O'Reilly, Shannon Boxx and Sydney Leroux also scored for the Americans, who move to 21-0-2 against Australia.

The Australians went ahead 2-1 late in the first half on Sarah Walsh's low shot past Hope Solo. A few minutes later, Morgan tied up the game.

Wambach deflected in the decisive goal in the 53rd minute when she simply stuck her foot out after Morgan unleashed a shot.

And with that, the team was on its way to sending Sundhage out in winning fashion.

Sundhage leaves after a highly successful stint, going 91-6-10 in her time on the bench. Besides two Olympic gold medals, she also led the Americans to their first World Cup final in 12 years.

"She's built this game, helped elevate the game to a new level," said Solo, whose team won its 14th straight match. "So, there's not too much to be sad about. Of course, we're heartbroken that she's gone. But she's fulfilling her dreams and we're going to fulfill ours."

As a goodbye present, the team recently gave Sundhage a guitar that was signed by all the players in - surprise, surprise - the color of gold.

"It's the best present I ever got," she said.

They gave her quite a few memories along the way, too.

Sundhage's most poignant? That's easy: When the team roared back against Brazil in the quarterfinals of the 2011 World Cup. Wambach tied it at 2 with a magnificent, leaping header in the 122nd minute. The U.S. eventually captured the match 5-3 on penalty kicks.

"Better than a movie," Sundhage said. "That is the moment of my soccer life."

This final performance wasn't too bad, either.

Morgan's performance against the Australians gives her 63 points this year. It's the most for a national player in a calendar year since 2004, when Wambach accounted for 75 points.

"We wanted to give her a good show," Morgan said. "We didn't have the right rhythm in the first half. We're happy that we got a win in Pia's last game."

After the match was over, Sundhage hugged everyone in sight. She also began signing through tears - Tina Turner's classic, "Simply the best."

It was a day of singing for Sundhage, who performed tunes in the pregame meeting as well. The song list included: "The Times They Are A-Changin" and "Leaving on a Jet Plane."

Sundhage came in singing and left the same way.

"When a coach comes in and you don't know who they are and they start singing songs to you, it's like, `What is this going to be? How is this going to go?"' Wambach said. "Thankfully, it went well. It turned out really well for us."

Over Sundhage's career, she has made a habit of jotting down notes filled with emotions and tactics. Lately, she's been looking back at those details, to remember how special these players were to her.

The feeling was mutual.

Midfielder Carli Lloyd is convinced she might not be wearing the red, white and blue if not for Sundhage, who changed the way the team played after taking over. Sundhage emphasized midfield play even more, making Lloyd a vital component.

"When Pia first came on, she saw me play in previous tournaments and said to me, `I really like how you play and really believe in you,"' Lloyd recounted. "From then on, she preached playing in the midfield, playing possession. That's right up my alley."

Now, the big question is who replaces Sundhage?

U.S. soccer federation president Sunil Gulati recently said a search committee has been assembled - one that includes former U.S. team standout Mia Hamm - and a replacement could be selected possibly next month.

"Heard they have it down to double-digit (candidates)," Solo said. "But I don't know who it's going to come down to."

A new voice will take some getting used to for the players. They're used to Sundhage's fun-loving demeanor. She laughed with them. She played guitar for them.

After O'Reilly's early goal, the team went over to Sundhage on the bench and played air guitar for her.

"If you look at her statistics alone, she's done a fabulous job," Lloyd said. "But it's not only stats; it's the way she is as a person. She brings so much joy and pleasure. It's contagious, the way she has so much passion for the game."

Morgan earned her first cap while playing for Sundhage. Now, she's one of the most recognizable faces on the team and younger kids frequently show up in the stands wearing her jersey.

"Pia has done so much for us. We really appreciate everything," Morgan said. "It's not typical that you send off a coach like this - on such a high note and such a happy note."

   maintenance loan or tuition fee loan?, i don't need the maintenance and my tuition fee's are payed directly from student finance to the uni.

   according to the online page the first payments should get to my uni at around November

Procrastination generally doesn?t serve students well, leading more often to red eyes and hastily written reports than to scholastic success. But could those who have put off buying a laptop for school actually benefit from their foot-dragging? The team at Decide.com has analyzed laptop prices and found that one of the best times to buy a portable personal computer is the second half of September, according to The New York Times. Students who have so far found themselves paralyzed by choice or sticker shock may be in a position to score a deal -- and other consumers can take advantage as well.

Cheapism has zeroed in on four well-reviewed budget laptops selling for less than $600.

• The reintroduced Dell Inspiron 15R (starting at $549) has a 15.6-inch screen and stands out with a 750GB hard drive, 6GB of memory, and a whopping four USB 3.0 ports (these transfer data faster than more common USB 2.0 technology). The base model houses a standard second-generation Intel Core i3 processor, but consumers can step up to a third-generation Intel Core i5 without cracking our $600 ceiling. LOS ANGELES (AP) ? A former Yale University student remained jailed on $1 million bail, an amount normally reserved for murder or other crimes that could result in life sentences, after authorities said he made online death threats to children.

Eric Yee, a 21-year-old who recently withdrew from the Ivy League university, posted on ESPN's website that he was watching children and wouldn't mind killing them, Los Angeles County sheriff's officials said.

Yee was taken into custody Monday at his parents' home, which is on a street that overlooks two schools in Santa Clarita, Calif. Several guns were found there.

Sheriff's Lt. Steve Low said Yee was arrested for investigation of making terrorist threats. Bail was set at $1 million because the threat involved children, his home's proximity to two schools and several unregistered weapons that have been recovered, Low said.

He wouldn't say if there is any evidence whether Yee would make good on his threat, but experts said the bail amount was very high for a person suspected of making terrorist threats.

"To put it in perspective, $1 million is the presumptive bail for murder," said Hanni Fakhoury, an attorney for the Electronic Frontier Foundation and a former federal public defender who is not involved in the case. In comparison, the presumptive bail for making terrorist threats is $50,000 and it would take many specific circumstances to push it much higher, Fakhoury said.

Yee was arrested after the sports network ESPN reported threats were posted in a reader response section to an online story about new Nike sneakers named after LeBron James that cost $270 a pair. Some of the nearly 3,000 reader comments on the story talked about children possibly getting killed over the expensive sneakers, said ESPN spokesman Mike Soltys.

The post that led police to Yee referred to a shooting that would be like the one in Aurora, Colo., where 12 people were killed and 58 others were injured in July, authorities said.

"What he was posting had nothing to do with sports," Soltys said. "We closely monitor the message boards and anytime we get a threat, we're alerting law enforcement officials."

An employee at ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Conn., notified local police the same day and they linked the comments to the home of Yee's parents. Sheriff's investigators watched the home until they got a search warrant.

Yee and his family could not be reached for comment. His attorney, David Wallin, couldn't immediately talk about the case Wednesday.

Both schools near the home were open Tuesday, although at least three children didn't attend class after they were notified by the school about the arrest, said Dianne Saunders, principal of Santa Clarita Elementary School.

Authorities said they were looking at several computers to see if the suspect had made similar posts on the Internet. Investigators also were trying to determine who the guns belong to, Low said.

"We take all these kinds of threats serious, especially with the climate of other shootings around the nation over the past year," Low said.

Sheriff's investigators were working with Bristol police and police at Yale University, which said Yee was a student until he withdrew this May for undisclosed reasons. Yale officials said he had been expected to graduate with a bachelor's degree in economics this past spring.

A Yale website listed him as a member of its class of 2012 and a participant in a leadership training program.

*Point of view

I must get this off my Chest, whatever that means. Though this article is supposed to be about *POV in Writing, Im easily sidetracked to other topics when I write, so permit me to first say something regarding the phrase off my Chest.

What in the world does it mean to get something off my Chest? Does it mean that someone dumped something on another persons Chest while dining and the dumped-upon wants the dumper-upon to remove the dumped item off the dumped upons Chest and to cease and desist from future dumping upons? Or does it mean that two persons - perhaps two Writers who have an argument about a critique one made of the other's Writings - are wrestling, and one writer is sitting on the other Writers Chest, attempting to pin the competitors shoulders to the floor? In such a scenario, its not at all difficult to imagine the sat-upon exclaiming to the sitter-upon, Hey, dude, get off my Chest!

Of course, the term is an hyperbole when employed by Writers. Writers never attempt to pin the shoulders of other Writers when critiquing their work; they just pin back t heir ears. This writer can attest to that. His ears are filled with the pinholes suffered on the critter battlefields of the Internet. This is the reason he wears earmuffs and a Russian style fur hat when outside in the Western New York winters, especially when removing the snows from his property. Before suffering the justifiably inflicted ear-wounds from the critters, he always went bareheaded, even in below freezing temperatures.

Now that Ive had the opportunity to get that off my Chest, I realize that the topic of POV is not far different from the one above in peculiarity. When read aloud, both sound hilarious. Repeat after me: off my Chest - POV. Now, that certainly made you laugh, didnt it?

The term, POV, always reminds me of PVC - the lengthy, six-inch wide, fiberglass pipes that were used in the septic systems of my parents truck farm. Perhaps thats the reason for my negativity toward any POV, and also why I never have one when I write; when the septic sy stem cleaners came in their trucks to clean the systems on the farm, they created quite a stink - literally.

Say, a light bulb is flashing over my head! I now realize that my aversion to a POV in my Writing may be the reason other Writers are tempted to consign my articles to the PVC pipes. I may just have to discipline myself to using a POV in my Writing to avoid those pipes.

Prepping For IPO, Huddle Tools Its Cloud Collaboration Platform For U.S. Intel Honchos Dept Of Homeland Security And NGA

A big advance today for Huddle, the enterprise cloud collaboration platform: the company has announced that it is developing a version of its platform for two federal U.S. government organizations, the Department of Homeland Security's Science and Technology Directorate and the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency. These are the first U.S. deals of their kind for the company originally founded in London but now dual headquartered in San Francisco -- although they are not unprecedented: Huddle says it is already providing similar services to 80% of the UK government. The first stage of these deployments is a partnership between Huddle and In-Q-Tel (IQT), the non-profit, strategic investment firm that identifies and develops technology solutions for the U.S. Intelligence Community. Huddle tells me that financial terms of this deal have not been disclosed.

Trott out of South Africa finale

England's Jonathan Trott has been ruled out of the fifth and final one-day international against South Africa in Nottingham on Wednesday because of a hand injury.

The South Africa-born batsman was hit on the right hand by a short ball from Proteas paceman Dale Steyn during England's six-wicket victory at Lord's on Sunday, a result that put them 2-1 up in the five-match series, but was cleared of any "major fracture" after an X-ray on Monday.

He took no part in Tuesday's practice, however, and the England and Wales Cricket Board confirmed later Tuesday he would not play in the series finale.

Somerset batsman Jos Buttler was called into the squad as cover on Monday, but Jonathan Bairstow is a more likely candidate to play his first match of the series.

Meanwhile England coach Andy Flower will miss Wednesday's match as well.

Flower is taking a short break to spend some time with his family, before England continue their packed schedule with three Twenty20s against South Africa -- and then fly to Sri Lanka to defend their ICC World Twenty20 crown.

England fielding coach Richard Halsall will deputise for former Zimbabwe batsman Flower in Nottingham.
